Library Service

The Lochinver and Assynt areas are served by the Highland Council Mobile Library Service.

The routes are tailored to meet the requirements of individual communities to ensure access where there is most need. Provided it is safe to park, stops can be included at Primary Schools, Residential Homes, Community Halls and at the centre of villages or farmsteads.

The normal service is fortnightly on a fixed timetable. The Library Van carries a wide range of books for all ages and interests, but requests can be arranged from the stock of the main Highland Library.

The Sutherland area is serviced from Dornoch.

Local newspaper - Assynt News, published fortnightly.
