Knockan Crag Visitor Centre lies between Ullapool and Elphin on the A835, some 13 miles north of Ullapool (NC 189091).
Managed by Scottish Natural Heritage, it is a centre specialising in the geological history of the North of Scotland, how the land was created, and shaped by the forces of nature through time, and why it is as it is today.
Take the chance to study rocks close up and see how complex they really are.
The Rock Room, Rock Trails, Rock Art, and the map and leaflet of a Rock Route which will take you on a tour of the North West of Scotland, if you wish to follow it, by car or cycle, are all there for you to enjoy, as well as the fantastic views from the open-sided viewpoint.
